Principal Engineer
After 22 years in construction, eight of them as a California licensed, B-1 General Contractor, Skot hung up his bags and began the pursuit of his dream to become an engineer. With years of hard work and determination, he earned his license as a California Professional Engineer. After working for Mike Hicks for several years, Skot bought Sheerline Engineering when Mike retired.
Constructability is essential to good design and is a driving principle behind all of Skot’s designs. He believes in forming a collaborative relationship with the architect and the contractor. This teamwork approach fosters easy communication between design and installation, helps to identify potential issues early, and keeps projects on track and moving forward. Skot’s mantra, “use a client’s money wisely, and as little of it as possible,” applies to every job, no matter how large or small. His scope of work includes custom homes, multi-family residential complexes, tenant improvements, Accessory Dwelling Units, seismic retrofits, remodels, and more. Structure designs have included timber, concrete, masonry, steel, light gauge, and combinations of each. Skot’s goal is to carry on the traditions of Mike’s example for many years to come.
